Umbraco is a full-featured, open source CMS with the power and flexibility to cater for start-ups right through to global brands. With more than 700,000 sites powered by Umbraco globally, it is one of the fastest-growing .NET Content Management Systems. Umbraco is headquartered in Denmark but is supported by a network of more than 200,000 active users around the world who are consistently updating and improving the platform. Umbraco has been in operation as an open source CMS provider since 2005.

Headless out of the box

The Content Delivery API delivers headless capabilities built directly into Umbraco. It allows you to retrieve your content items in a JSON format and lets you present them in different channels using your preferred technology stack. This feature preserves the friendly editing experience of Umbraco, while also ensuring a performant delivery of content in a headless manner. And with its different extension points, you can tailor this API to fit a broad range of requirements.

The Content Delivery API can be self-hosted or run on Umbraco Cloud, providing you with the option of customising Umbraco to suit business requirements. This hybrid headless system allows you to deliver content to your third party applications or mobile apps while still giving content authors a rich WYSIWYG experience when creating traditional component-based web pages.

Managed Umbraco products

In addition to the open source CMS, Umbraco also offers Umbraco Cloud (Platform as a Service), with which we have web development experience. 

Umbraco Cloud 

Umbraco Cloud is Umbraco's Platform as a Service (PaaS) offering. The open-source Umbraco CMS is deployed to Azure infrastructure managed by Umbraco HQ. Hosting, website set-up, latest bug and security fixes are all automated giving developers more time to focus on developing new features. Centralised user management, data security, automatic TLS Certificates and HTTPS for all Cloud sites via Cloudflare, and features such as ContentFlow and Baselines reduce time-to-market.

With data centres across the world, you can now choose to host your Umbraco Cloud project in eastern Australia in addition to data centres in East US, West Europe and South UK. Luminary is proud to have partnered with Umbraco HQ in realising the Umbraco Cloud Australian data centre and was responsible for delivering the first commercial customer to the Australian data centre.

Security is paramount

Open source doesn't mean unsecured. Exposing the code base for everyone to see makes Umbraco transparent for everyone to fix and improve Umbraco.

But no one can change the code. Umbraco CMS is maintained by Umbraco HQ. A team reviews and controls the quality of the code base. In addition to this, Umbraco HQ organises external security audits several times a year.

Umbraco Workflow

Create publishing flows with the right approvals at every stage.

• Review assignment: once an editor has created a draft, this will automatically be assigned to the right groups or users for them to review.
• Approval or rejection: The content can be approved or rejected. This can trigger different actions, like sending in to a different group to review and publish or request back to the author content changes.
• Multistage progression: content can go through different stages until it's ready to be published.
• Publishing: Optional scheduled publishing allows content to go live at a specific time

UI Builder

Easily generate listings and interfaces for content external to Umbraco. This content can be edited from the Umbraco backoffice and saved back to the source, giving your editors a unified editing experience for content that is stored in different platforms.
