Utilising design systems and tokens

The utilisation of a strong underlying design system and Design Tokens were essential in delivering a time- and cost-efficient solution for legalsuper. The task was to design the legalsuper website to include its branding and design identity, which included logos, colours, typography, photography (placement), iconography and graphic elements. Digitally, these new Tokens came together with the same grid/layout, interactivity and motion of the existing building blocks utilised with Launchpad. This is where the design and front end teams worked together to achieve a seamless execution with extraordinary velocity - first staging a completed design within only three weeks.

Design Tokens are essentially variables that represent specific values, such as colours, font sizes, spacing, and other design properties. These variables can then be used throughout the design process to ensure consistency and maintain a cohesive design language. Imagine a lever is pulled, and a website is transformed in its visual identity, but the structure and components remain the same. When a new design system is implemented, each of the Design Tokens is altered based on the design values assigned.
